Striker Kevon Carter scored two goals and created another as an all locally-based Soca Warriors outfit whipped Antigua & Barbuda 41 in an international friendly at Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya last night. Carter, who has been in good form for his club team Defence Force in the Digicel Pro League with five goals this season, opened the scoring in the tenth minute and added his second in the 31st minute for a 31 cushion at the interval. The second strike by Carter came after he had set up the second item from Soca Warriors captain Kerry Baptiste in the 18th minute, while in the second-half, Devon Jorsling, the leading scorer in the Pro League, made it 41 in the 67th minute. Second-half substitute, Jason Marcano almost made it 51 in the 78th minute, but his effort came off the post to let the visitors off the hook.
The match-up was being used by both teams as part of their preparations for the Digicel Caribbean Championship Qualifiers, which begin next month. And it was very evident that both coaches were not about to let the chance go by, as T&T made six substitutions in the contest, one more than the visitors. It was also the first meeting between both countries since T&T scored a narrow 32 win at the same venue in 2008. The win carried T&T's record against the Antigua & Barbudans to nie from ten encounters, while outscoring its opponents, 3510. The 129th Fifa ranked Antigua & Barbuda's only win against T&T came in 2005, 21 on the successful Road to Germany campaign.
